Self consumption first
For most businesses the value of a rooftop photovoltaic system comes from using the energy on site during working hours, when consumption is high. Hotels, cold stores, retail and offices with daytime loads are typical candidates.
Reviewing hourly or monthly consumption data is the starting point for sizing.
Net billing and grid connection
In Greece, self production schemes such as net billing govern how energy fed to the grid is valued. The rules and the connection process with the network operator change over time, so they should be checked for each project at the time of application.
Is storage worth it?
Batteries shift solar energy to evening hours and can support peak shaving or backup. Whether they pay off depends on the load profile, tariff structure and current support programmes, so they are best evaluated as a separate option in the offer.
Roof and equipment checks
Before procurement, check the structural capacity of the roof, waterproofing condition, shading, access for maintenance and fire safety requirements.
Specify panels, inverters and mounting systems with clear datasheets, warranties and certifications, and plan for monitoring and periodic cleaning.
